Thermal and electrical conductive pastes are formulated with a high percentage of various conductive powders conveyed in synthetic oils / silicone. A fundamental characteristic of these pastes is their low volatility and high thermal stability at high temperatures, typical in these applications. Another important property is their elevated propensity for spreading so that they effectively cover the coupled surfaces and consequently reduce thermal or electrical resistance. In most cases, these pastes are used in static applications but special conductive greases are available for use in dynamic applications such as ball bearings subject to stray currents.
